ALMOST one in 10 people will have diabetes by 2030, a steep rise that threatens to bankrupt the NHS, shocking new figures reveal. At the same time the costs of treating diabetes in the England, mostly Type 2, is set to rise from £8.4billion a year – just under 10 per cent of the health service budget – to £14.3billion a year by 2035.
