THE number of sheltered housing complexes in Scotland has fallen by around 15 per cent over the past two years as council budget cuts start to bite. Many service providers have opted to de-register with the country’s care watchdog, effectively forcing elderly residents to either move to a care home or hire outside help to manage independently.
